Denver Community Health Network Development

global health Oct 01, 2022

Be Healthy in partnership with Sisters Of Color United For Education (SOCUE) has provided infrastructure support for Community Health workers to build the framework for continued free to reduced cost BodyTalk and Body Intuitive services for their communities throughout the Colorado front range. Be Healthy has supported community health workers in Denver Colorado to train a diverse group of community leaders in BodyTalk Fundamentals and Body Intuitive who all represent high-risk and under-insured communities.

Ongoing practitioner mentorship for single mothers, community health workers and youth working with low to no income families has been the cornerstone of building a sustainable care network in the metro area. Annual education in BodyTalk Access, BodyTalk Fundamentals and Body Intuitive over the last decade had supposed community health workers to expand their reach and services as part of their community health education efforts centered around, heart health, diabetes, safe sex, HIV prevention, substance misuse and mental health counseling. SOCUE participants have also had access to weekly clinics and 1-1 direct energy medicine services since 2015 with the help of Be Healthy.

A weekly donation-based clinic started as a teaching clinic for student practitioners to gain mentorship in 2015 and has grown to offer on going  donation based services to the Denver community. The community clinic has been seeing 6-10 individuals and families a week and supports them getting into wrap around services and referrals for further care. These clinics have served as mentorship clinics to support practitioner development into including energy medicine services into their 1-1 case management and group education work.

The community clinic model helped train other local wellness practitioners implement services with the same framework and grow their own community offerings. Over the years Denvers wellness community has thrived in its ability to support low to no income families receiving services as this model duplicated thought the city as well as providing large outreach events, wellness fairs and in home services.

Be Health was also instrumental in the ground work, growth and development of SOCUE’s H.E.A.L. Denvers drop in referral center and education programs. H.E.A.L. stands for Health, Education, Arts and Leadership and was opened for services and education in the metro denver area. Be Healthy has supported the growth of HEAL’s clinic model, education programs to offer bi-lingual services and classes in BodyTalk and Body Intuitive supporting reach for the existing Promotora program to expand their community health services.
